Hadrian’s Wall examines the Roman Empire’s most spectacular British monument. Stretching from the Tyne to the Solway Firth, this massive fortification physically divided Britain, serving as a strategic barrier between Roman civilization and northern barbarian tribes. The authors frame the wall’s construction and tactical usage within the context of imperial frontier policy. For three centuries, auxiliary troops maintained this frontier until the fall of the Western Empire led to the soldiers' departure and the wall's decay.
